Meetups for hosts

17 Sep 2026

A meetup is a community event. It is not a paid listing. It does not use checkout or trip-date quota.

How do I create a meetup as a host?

  1. Sign in to the host dashboard.
  2. Open Meetup.
  3. Choose Create Meetup.
  4. Enter a title, place, location, time, description, and image.
  5. Choose public or private.
  6. Enter Maximum guests, then save.

Meetups you create appear on the Organized tab. Meetups you join as a guest appear on the Joined tab.

Maximum guests is the number of people who can join. As the organizer you do not use that quota. If you enter 50, 50 people can join. Do not subtract one seat for yourself.

A meetup becomes Confirmed after 2 guests join. The organizer is not counted.

A private meetup needs approval before a guest joins. A public meetup can be joined until the quota is full. If the quota is full, guests can join the waitlist.

How do I manage a meetup I organize?

Open the meetup on the Organized tab, then Manage. The host manage page is for the meetup owner only.

On the Requests tab, approve or reject private join requests. The waitlist is shown separately on the same tab. Move a person from the waitlist only when a slot is open. If the meetup is still full, remove a participant first.

You can also remove a participant, add or remove a co-organizer, and open the group chat.

A co-organizer is a traveler account. They manage from the customer dashboard. Co-organizers can approve requests, generate a check-in code, and remove regular members. A co-organizer cannot add another co-organizer, transfer ownership, edit, cancel, or delete the meetup.

How do I check in guests on the event day?

  1. Open Manage on the active meetup.
  2. Generate a check-in code.
  3. Tell guests that code.
  4. Guests enter the code on the public meetup page.

Check-in closes after the meetup ends. Meetup check-in uses an event code. It is not traveler check-in on a trip or experience booking.

How do I cancel, delete, or leave a meetup?

Edit a meetup only while the status still allows changes. Cancel the meetup if the event will not run. Cancellation marks the event cancelled, archives the group chat, and notifies participants. Delete the meetup from the list if you no longer need it.

If you join someone else's meetup as a guest, open the Joined tab, then leave. The meetup must still be active. The organizer cannot leave their own event, and does not see a join button on their public page.

For a safety problem, open Report on the public meetup page.
